DIY Guide For Attaching The New Fittings

1. Start to assemble the new plumbing. Wind PTFE tape around the screw thread of the waste outlet and spread some plumber’s putty underneath the rim.
2. Put the waste outlet in position and make sure that it is firmly seated. These days the overflow will be made of plastic and connects to the waste outlet.
3. Attach the overflow to the outlet with a locking nut and a plastic 0 ring, which is inserted between them. Screw up the nut and tighten gently.
4. Attach the inlet end of the overflow which will have the plug and chain attached to it. Screw it into the pipe connector and tighten it up.
5. Take the mixer and check that the rubber gasket is in position between the unit and the bath, and also that it is clean and free from bits of grit.
6. Screw the back-nuts up onto the trap and tighten them. Insert a flat plastic washer or top hat washer between the nut and the bath.
